Pastor Al,

Our relationship didn't get a chance to soar like I would have wanted, but the words or laughter you shared w/ me meant a lot. Just the thought of making sure I'm ok, speaks for itself. You and Ms. Jinny is going to be deeply missed by so many people, but as you stated above your mark is ever lasting. I pray that I leave a strong and big mark on the lives of people that I come in contact w/. Love you lots...

I remember very well how, 7 years ago, T.J. virtually mourned the loss of his first Youth Pastor. No one else could possible be as good, could teach him as much or love him as much. But, with your very first message, he knew that you were, in fact, the man who was meant to lead him through his teens into adulthood. As grandparents, we love anyone who loves and supports our boys and we certainly love you and Ginny.

The Legacy lives on man! Thank you for being you! Leaving a Legacy isnt just being cool or hip, its about making tough desicions knowing that your following the highest power, and using that knowledge to lead people in the right direction for Eternity. I appreciate you leading and steering, and sometimes kicking me in the right direction, you definetly helped shape me into who I am today..

Good word! We are having an impact, even when we can't see it. Our message is getting through- even to those who may seem oblivous (or even rejecting) during this time. Down the road the seed will produce good fruit. Excellent thoughts Al.

I can definitely relate. I am six months removed now from 17 years of leading a youth service. It is a dramatic change in our lives - even though we know we will soon be on the mission field. Our prayers are with you friend. Knowing something is the right thing to do and even that it is the right time to do it does not make us immune from the feelings that impact us during the transition. It remains a process (that is working for our good, but still...) We are in that process ourselves. I woke up everyday of my adult life with a primary purpose and mission...the same one. Then one day I woke up and it was not my mission anymore. That is a mountain to climb all by itself. We DO have hope. We DO have expectancy. We DO remain faithful. And through it all God does His part. Day by day, step by step, we find our way to the other side of the transition.

Blessings for you as you walk through this season of your journey!

Absolutely true. I believe if we as Leaders would add time in just two areas, we could significantly increase our impact: 1- More time spent praying about our Youth Services. 2- More time planning an extremely creative Youth Service, especially how we drive home through creative illustrations, dramas, videos, etc. the key points of Scripture we want our teens to be impacted by that night. Both of these are challenges bcs of the "time" element. But other things we spend just as much time on will give a much smaller return, when compared to the same amount of time invested into Prayer & Creativity.
