3 men and a fire truck!

February 1, 2009 Leave a comment

Saturday I spent the morning with my boys. The ministry can get so demanding and become so consuming that if you don’t make time for family you won’t have time. I am an extremely. Driven individual with a passion to succeed. I see this as a good thing and a negative thing. Sometimes it’s so east to get caught up in the work of the ministry that I gail to take care of details. God is working on me on this one, basically I have dug a hole and need to work my way out of it! God is working on me!!

Here is a few pics from mybmorning with my favorite peeps…my boys!

happy-thanksgiving

today i fried a turkey (fried the neighbors turkey too!) ate so much food it was a sin and hung around with the fam. life is good when you know what to be thankful for! i am truly thankful for a God that supplied it all as well as put it all into motion! where would you be today without the hand of God on your life…that’s a deep thought!

Thanks God…for an amazing day!

monday is a day for?

it’s monday and the kiddos are home and this will be a short blog. i woke up to a wrestling match and dog pile in the bed…gotta love my boys. the weather in Florida, especially in the fall is amazing. its like 70 degrees out there a slight breeze and i am cooking bacon and whole wheat pancakes on the grill. there are so many things on my mind to do…here is just a few: go over the script and make adjustments for a “hell house” outreach meeting tomorrow, work on my message for wednesday (i am in a series called deeper, and i am going to dive into the truth that love is unselfish and love is serving…you can play in the shallows of your faith or you can wade out into the depth of love and service), i need to trim the palm trees, email the office-darn i just did that, i am getting my haircut today (short-tired of the longer hair), schedule some activities, meetings and events for the spring and summer, trim the palm trees out front, work on a to do list that never stops and keeps on growing…update the web-sight……yada yada yada…

today i am taking the day off and chilling with the boys…haircut and indiana jones and the crystal skull.

peace!

if you are at work today reading this..sorry i am laying around today!

a day at the beach

today i took the boys and went to the beach…jake was whining “i don;t wanna go dad” when it was time to leave i had to drag him off the beach. we swam, kicked a soccer ball around and dug hole to fill with water and then built a sandcastle. i got down in the hole with the boys and dug away and then just sat back and watch the imagination go wild. my boys are so imaginative. jake was driving his truck around and dumping loads of water into the hole and al was simply playing away with the castle. jake caught a fish and decided to show it for the cam…he died :( in the middle of it all i began to pray and just think about how good God has been to us. i watched as the boys truly played and had the time of their lives, and i was enjoying every moment. it was then that God spoke to me that he loves to watch over us and truly enjoys it when we are having the time of our lives. here is the thought of the day…God is watching and enjoying your life. we were created for his good pleasure!

peace…

oh yah it was so hot out that we got a bit burnt today!

when God shows up…

today we geared up for our sons kindergarten graduation. Now in our house that means my wife will get truly involved in the after party. she is the decorator and has come up with some really amazing plans. 3 years ago our other son graduated from kindergarten and she had me fill baby pools with whites sand so that about 50 or so kindergardeners could play in the sand-it was a luau scene and it was a trip to see how much sand actually was left after the party.

this year is was a circus theme and she had me build a corn hole set for the kids to play in the fellowship hall, we hired a few clowns from our missions team, and she wanted a board made that kids could stick their face thru to take pictures…the problem was a package she ordered was tracked to the post office in town but it was not delivered. here’s where God shows up. i called a guy i knew in the kids dept. that worked there and he said call the main office and leave a message and they will call back. well i left a message and a postal worker did her best to track down the package…it was destined to be delivered one day late…what a bummer! i thanked her and let it go-she said it was wrapped up in pallet somewhere in the warehouse waiting to be sorted tomorrow. you know when you can’t do any more it surely gives god room to move. i broke the news to my wife and she was not happy. we tried…we did our best and it was so close. half an hour later the postal worker i knew calls and says “you must be living right” i was shocked he went to his supervisor that said there is no way you will find the package and then went into the warehouse climbed up the first bin and on top was her package. i asked…it was 2 hours before the party and i asked how do i get it…he replied i am leaving now i will drop it by!

God you are so good to your kids…you truly know how to take care of us! thanks for yet again proving that you can show up when we have done all we can to “make it happen” makes you wanna trust him a little bit more!~

i brought my youngest to school on friday…he’s been out of r 2 days with fever. it was tough getting him to get in gear and get going, he was so down and moping around on his way. he was tired and wanted to feel some love. so i kept telling him your gonna make it its gonna be a great day today…i bet your friends really missed you. he reluctantly walks down the hall towards his class…we walked in right as class was about to start all the kids were in their seats and when we walked in you though some famous person walked in cheers erupted from the whole room…jake was back! you could see a hint of a smile on his face. i took a picture of him in his kindergarten cap and gown…they were taking pics today. he still had a smile on his face…now that’s what friends are for. they pick you up when you feel down!
