road trip…spring break in atlanta pt 2 – thursday

The westin peachtree was seriously hit by a tornado…windows were blown out and it is under construction everywhere. Now if you listen to the registration desk calling in advance they might tell you its all good. I’m living proof that this place was jacked up! At 8:40 this morning we were awakened by a jackhammer-on the 56th floor. They are trying to put this place back together. So we made like we were in the tornado and left town. Spent the day at stone mountain and we had a blast from the 4d theatre, train ride and the gondola to the top it was an over the top kinda day. We finished off stone mountain with a duck ride- its an amphibious vehicle they drive on land and in the water. Jake and al got to drive the boat-it was tight.

After that we hit the mall of Georgia- huge mall in Buford. I mean huge! Shopped a bit and then went into a theatre to see Horton hears a who! This was probably the funniest movies I have seen in some time, not that the content was funny, but the response of my kids was hysterical. We were in this huge theatre and nobody was there- it was a private showing for the forces. We laughed, carried on and generally just enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend this movie to any family!

Back at the hotel-tomorrow we venture to the Georgia aquarium, coke factory and a braves game. I picked up a t-shirt for al and jake – tom glavine, mark tiexera and I am wearing jeff francouer – the forces are gonna have a time at turner field!

Oh yah the hotel is still jacked up! They gave me the first night free for all the frustration!

today i came back from my usual drop in at a public school to sit in an fca meeting.  came back and took a peak in on my son in a p.e. class.  i loved p.e. when i was in the third grade…kick ball, dodgeball, field hockey….they were playing a version of freeze tag in the gym and he was having the time of his life.  it struck me at this instant that our heavenly father looks over us and when we are having the time of our lives he is smiling along with us.  Jesus came to give us and show us how to have areal life…my son never saw me while he played…ya know, sometimes we never see God watching, but he never stops watching!

just my thoughts watching a third grader play freeze tag in p.e.

what am i thinkin?

this blog at times revolves around the idea that…i have so many thoughts bouncing around on the inside of my skull, that this is a great avenue for me to let others know what i am thinkin… today i spent like 5 hours on final cut pro for wed night…we have a compel night and i am stoked about the creative idea.

watching xgames on dvr i saw shaun white win gold…he pulled off a 1260 in the driving snow-my thoughts how do you get to the point that you can pull off stuff like that. if my body moved like that something might snap! oh well i just love carving on a snow board.

jake and al are playing wii (rayman raving rabbit) jake just lost his mind…competition in the family seems to be big. our boys compete all the time…everything is a race…nobody likes to lose. it gets really out of hand when they start swingin over a game! well if you have ever played rayman you might understand too. we went for a ride on our bikes around the neighborhood and somebody has to be in the lead! whatever it is somebody is gonna compete over it!

life is oh so good.

new years eve…all night long.

new years eve at calvary is an amazing experience.  we held one service in 2 locations with a video feed in between the two. its not over flow…since we had 2 bands and ran between the venues.  God moved last night at calvary in a big way.  we kicked off 08 and shut the door on 07.  the after party was packed with smiling faces and a little bit of cha cha cha, the singing bee and loads of cake to eat.

the all night event kicked off in the crave cafe with a local band and then a trip to a bowling alley. 3 bus loads of kids and we didn’t lose any…gotta love it. after bowling, a dodgeball tournament was held and the team known as “pastor steve” won the $100 prize. krispy kreme doughnuts a little pirates of the caribbean and the night faded away. great night with our students that seemed to never end. a hint to anyone attempting an all night event…there will always be a few kids that get dropped off and can’t seem to get there way home, well this night was no exception, so i got to take one of our kids home…no big deal-its all in the calling!

2008…a year of new beginnings!

gaslight parade…

ormond beach has an old car parade every year the night after thanksgiving. the parade is called the gaslight parade and is probably one of ormonds’ best kept secrets…i can remember coming out on friday night as a kid with my dad just to catch a glimpse of the old cars that drove by.  it was a walk back in time.  tonight we took the boys and hung out and saw the parade…it was really good this year.  slightly cold, but the parae started at 7pm we showed up at 6:45 with chic fila for the boys and a starbucks.  we sat and watch the cars waved and saw santa in the end. it was all done and we got stuck in a bit of traffic, but still got home by 8pm…now that’s a parade…no wait, great spot, not too long and you can get out quick…

jake stood and waved at every car… the cars were simply amazing…but what’s more amazing was the time we spent wit hour boys.  family time is so vital-you  gotta do it!  oh yah the parade was free! pic-0423.jpgpic-0422.jpg
